Compagnie Coloniale’s herbal teas
In French, three terms (tisane, thé and infusion) are often used to describe the same thing, but it is important to understand the difference.
Whether in French or English, an infusion is a drink made by leaving herbs in hot water, however in French the term thé is only used when leaves of the tea plant are infused.
If other leaves or flowers are infused, such as linden tree blossom, mint or lemon verbena (or any other plants mainly found in Europe), the term tisane or infusion is used.
It is much simpler in English because one is called tea and the other herbal tea! If the Chinese were the first to discover tea, herbal teas have been used in Europe for a long time. The Romans called verbena after Venus, perhaps because of the benefits they attributed to it.
Compagnie Coloniale invites you to discover a selection that includes traditional herbal teas, such as Verveine menthe (lemon verbena and mint) and Tilleul menthe (linden and mint), as well as some more exclusive products such as Douce nuit (a soothing night-time herbal tea), Détente (a stimulating herbal tea) and Tonus (an energising herbal tea).
